Project Creative Courage: Nurturing Empathy Through Art
Courage can be learned.
Honed like a habit. Through reflection and voice.
Project Creative Courage invites schools to let art break the silence within. Our goal is to nurture empathy, resilience, and self-expression by giving children the tools to explore their inner worlds. When students write, speak, or create freely about their feelings, they discover what safety, love, and care truly look like.
Write It Out Initiative
The ‘Write It Out’ initiative encourages students to reimagine what a loving, safe community could be. Through letters, poems, or spoken-word pieces, children practice:
The courage to care
The courage to listen
The courage to speak
The courage to dream
These acts, small but powerful, echo the heart of feminist movements for social change.
Voices of Courage
Launched during the 16 Days of Activism 2025 under the theme Voices of Courage, this project celebrates bravery — the bravery to speak, to create, and to care in a world that too often silences. It draws inspiration from The Place of Courage at Tulya Wardli / Bonython Park, a memorial space honoring women and gender-diverse people. Here, silence becomes solidarity, and remembrance becomes resilience.
The Quiet Power of Courage
By participating, students learn that courage doesn’t always roar. It grows quietly, through consistent acts of compassion, self-expression, and imagination. Children are the foundation of our future, and helping them practise courage from a young age can shape safer, more empathetic communities.
Courage isn’t always loud.
It grows in quiet acts of care,
in telling one’s story,
in imagining a fairer world,
and in believing that change begins within.
